City Lights: A Civil Blog by Peggy Kvam

"City Lights" is a new Blog series spotlighting Minnetonka's City Government.

Greetings, Minnetonka Patch Readers!

I am honored and a bit intimidated by the invitation from Patch to be a regular Blog contributor for the publication. I’ve never blogged and have no interest in reading or writing personal rants, which seem to be the focus of so many blogs. However, I was asked to communicate about topics in City Government, which is an area I’m keenly interested in. I take great pride in my city of Minnetonka. It is naturally beautiful and functionally well-managed. I will use this blog as an opportunity to report on highlights and lowlights of civic aspects of the city. I will be writing from my own perspective, giving my own impressions of events.  I plan to present multiple sides of issues, to help us understand each other and work together rather than apart for better solutions to challenges.

Full disclosure – I am running for Minnetonka City Council this fall. I have great respect for our City Council and City Staff, and am working hard to join this team. The dedicated public service from these people have made Minnetonka such a wonderful place to live in. This first blog post is subtitled “A Civil Blog”, because the blog will delve into civics topics, and also because I take a position of respect for every opinion.  I welcome your comments to my posts.
