Support Dan Haugen for Wayzata School Board!

I am writing this letter in support of Dan Haugen for the position of School Board Member for the Wayzata Public School District.

I had the pleasure of working with Dan at the Neighborhood Involvement Project (NIP).  While working with Dan I admired his dedication and his tireless approach towards working with people who had life changing issues.  When it came to programs that dealt with education Dan was able to differentiate his approach based on the person’s social, economic and education background.  He always had time for staff, students and family members.  One of the qualities that set Dan apart from anyone I’ve ever worked with was his knack for making people feel whole after they talked to him about their personal issues.

As you all know passion is the motivating factor when pursuing a career or position in the school system and sometimes passion can lead to arguments and hurt feelings Dan has the ability to keep the playing field level and create an environment where everyone feels free to express their opinion without fear of rebutal.  I have worked in the school system as an Advocate, Liaison and Administrator and there are times when I have had to make tough decisions and I have often reflected upon some of the things that I learned from Dan.
