Minnetonka Rotary Endorses the Eisenhower Summer Reading Program.

May 29th 7:30am at the Minnetonka Rotary weekly meeting Eisenhower Elementary Principal Terri Siquenza thanked the Minnetonka Rotary for endorsing the summer reading program by contributing $3,000. This reading program is to help first graders moving towards second grade with reading material during the summer months.

The Minnetonka Rotary believes in “Building Responsible Youth” and identified these students as needing extra support to help challenge those young students during their summer time away from a formal school setting.

President of the Minnetonka Rotary, Bob Hersman is a strong supporter of the Student Reading/Mentoring Program, during the school year at Eisenhower as well and looks for members of the Minnetonka Rotary to support this with their time of an hour weekly. Studies have shown that one on one individual mentoring can have a profound effect on young people. The world can be an intimidating place and some young people need this one on one support, from someone other than a parent. The members of the Minnetonka Rotary, that participate in this program have seen these youth move from insecure to confident as the school year progresses with this weekly hour of individual coaching.

The Minnetonka Rotary meets at Eisenhower Community Center, Room 233,  on Hwy 7 every Wednesday at 7:15am.
