Pierce and Dietrich Inducted Into Mound Westonka Wrestling Hall of Fame

Former Mound graduates and teammates Kermit Dietrich and Roy Pierce were inducted into the Mound Westonka Wrestling Hall of Fame on Friday, February 7, 2014.

Kermit Dietrich

Kermit was a 1948 graduate of Mound High School, where he was a two-time state entrant and state runner up.  In his junior season, he was a state entrant and part of 1947 state champion wrestling team.  He was captain his senior year, and was second in state at 137 pounds.  After high school, Kermit enlisted in the Navy and served with the Pacific Fleet Submarine Force, out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  While there he placed second in the 14th Naval District wrestling championships.  Kermit now resides in Waconia, MN.  Congratulations, Kermit!

Roy Pierce

The late Roy Pierce was a 1950 graduate of Mound High School, where he was a three-time state entrant and two-time state placewinner.  In his freshman season, Roy was a state entrant and part of the 1947 state champion wrestling team.  He placed third in state his junior season, and was a state runner-up as a senior.  Roy went on to be a proud member of the Masons, serving as President and Master of Ark Lodge.  He was also a member of the Shriners for many years.  Roy had three children, three step-children, and 17 grandchildren.  Accepting his award is his wife Dolly, son Craig, and step-son Christopher.  Congratulations Roy!
