Rotary Club Honors Minnetonka Students for Service

The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Rotary Club honored Minnetonka students for their local and global service.

The Interact Club at Minnetonka High School has been recognized with the Rotary Presidential Citation.  The award was presented to the group on April 19 for their local and global service work this past school year.

Locally, the group has cleaned trails, packaged food for an Indian reservation in South Dakota and Haitians, made blankets for the homeless, covered shifts for Salvation Army bell ringing, provided a Valentine’s Day party for an after-school program through the YWCA, made sandwiches for the homeless, and visited an assisted living home.

Globally, they raised money to purchase solar lights for about 50 kids living in the Awutu-Mankessim village in Ghana that will allow them to study at night.  They will also conduct an all-district school supply drive for the organization Mano a Mano to provide children in Bolivia with needed supplies.
