Walk With Boger Dental In Support of Oral Cancer Awareness

Last year oral cancer took the lives of 7,600 Americans. The key is early detection. Join us in support of this important cause...and have fun along with the Boger Dental team, too!

As a health-focused community, the team at Boger Dental is focused on health and living an active, healthy lifestyle. One of the latest adventures was the Urban Assault, a team relay race in downtown Minneapolis. Our own Dr. Kristi Scherweit and her husband, Justin, joined our operations manager, Robyn Theisen and her husband, Rob, in a trek throughout the downtown area. Join Us To Spread The Word About Oral Cancer

We want to invite you to join us for another upcoming event in support of a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, the prevention and treatment of oral cancer.

Last year in the United States approximately 35,700 new cases of oral cancer were diagnosed in the and there were about 7,600 deaths. Unfortunately, 60%  percent of people aren’t diagnosed until the cancer has progressed to stage III or IV and almost half of those victims die within 5 years. But if caught early, oral cancer has one of the highest overall treatment and survival rates!

On October 22, the Twin Cities’ First Annual Oral Cancer Awareness Walk/Fun Run will take place down around Lake Harriet. Boger Dental is an enthusiastic corporate sponsor of the event in addition to our team walking together in the event.

If you would like to join us, here are the details:

  • 7:30AM: Registration at the Lake Harriet Bandshell
  • 7:30-8:30AM: FREE Oral Cancer Screenings, Raffle Sales, Guest speakers: Oral Cancer Survivors
  • 8:30AM: Races begin!
  • Tickets: $25 and includes t-shirt, food and beverages

The race is being organized by The Oral Cancer Foundation (OCF), the Minnesota Dental Hygienists' Association and the Minnesota Dental Assistants Association. We also have another special affiliation with the race this year in that our own, hygiene extraordinaire, Michelle Sensat is helping to organize this innagural event. In addition to being a dental hygienist at Boger Dental and a teacher at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, Michelle is also active and serves as president of the Minnesota Dental Hygienists' Association. We are proud of her devotion to the cause of promoting dental health and are happy to support her in this event.

To register for the event, contact Oral Cancer Foundation Walk. Let us know you’re coming and be part of the Boger Dental team!
