Amazing Summer Wine: Botani Moscatel
With the recent string of warm weather, and Memorial Day around the corner, we uncorked a bottle of 2010 Botani Moscatel by Jorge Ordonez and Co. I think I found a new favorite summer wine.

Botani Moscatel is made with 100% Muscat Alexandria grapes from "very old vines" in the Malaga Mountains of Spain, and is fermented in 70% stainless/30% oak.
Its nose is filled with floral aromas and hints of lemongrass and apple, complementing a dry-acidic flavor with a mild finish.

To me, Botani is about as white as a white wine can get, making it perfect for a hot day. It pours an extremely light "pale straw color," almost completely opaque.

The winemaker recommends pairing Botani with fish, shellfish or any kind of seafood, as well as cold soups, ceviche, sushi, risottos, dishes with black truffle and spicy Thai or Indian food.
Awards
Parker has rated Botani Moscatel above 90 points every year it was produced from 2004-2010. Climate issues prevented production in 2005.
Purchase Botani Moscatel at The Wine Shop for $19.99.
