Tips for a balanced leisure lifestyle - Put Procrastination Aside

Hopefully our summer whether has built a new piece into your daily schedule.  Appreciation for the sun, stepping out to get a fresh breath of the smell of warming environs or the hot-car interior when one opens the car to drive home from work or a long errand or summer baseball games, swimming, walking around the lakes are examples.

Do you ever consider that this season could be one for improving lifestyle?  I am not talking about dieting for the bathing suit, planning a huge half marathon, or sitting at home reading all day with the windows open.  Perhaps there is a timer you set in your mind or on the table in the next room that reminds you and your friends or loved one's that a switch in activity is necessary. Down-shift a bit or down a bit after a couple hours of enjoyment, turning the physical into relaxation; or shift into active mode from reading to a good brisk walk for a 20 minute period, followed by a necessary chore like vacuuming or cleaning out a closet, scrubbing the bathroom or cleaning out the car.

How do you start?  Comment back to me about ways you find success, please!  My suggestions for accomplishment in light of procrastination include:

  • making a list of three tasks you find of priority to accomplish in one weekend day
  • quiet deep breaths of meditation and reflecting on the next task while you are in transition
  • Build awareness of your mood when you decide to do important tasks and ask what you want to do instead when you find difficulty making that item happen
Remember that there are Six Steps inovlved in beginning and ending a Task. These include non-action, preparation, engaging in the task, stoping the task, cleaning up afterward, and return to non-action.

If procrastination is identified as the culprit of inaction and failure, one's awareness of it will be the first step toward the solution.  Try to change up your lifestyle balance so that you have energy to do a realistic amount.

Love Yourself,
And let me know your thoughts on this series of tips applies to your lifestyle this summer.
