Colors Ablaze: Flavors Add Flare During Sale Daze!

A little diddy about Macy's Marketplace and Taste Bar that have lots of fresh food and memories to share. They just can't get the word out...so here it is!

After a lovely day outside and taking in some crisp air, who can contain their curiosity for new flavors to add to fall vegetables or quick meals? The American Institute of Cancer Research says that we ought to find ourselves filing our plates with at least two servings of fruits and vegetables daily.  You can do the stir-fry on your bagel, in your pasta and with your hot dish – just add a cup of crisp vegetables or fresh fruit.

If you think you don’t need another good taste of something delicious, consider the Thai Garlic Plum Sauce, Asian Ginger Teriyaki Sauce from Robert Rothschild, perhaps a little Smoke Salt from the Golden Fig (St Paul store) to perk up your desire for vegetables. The more flavor, the less your taste buds desire.  Even your doctor will agree.

Robert Rothschild and Stonewall Kitchen have absolutely delectable additions to fresh, frozen or ready-to-eat (RTE) vegetables. The dressings make a quick salad at home, a nifty house-warming gift, basket addition, and seasonal thank-you at a price unbeaten anywhere. Leftovers are often meat marinades, dipping sauces, and recipe ingredient ideas.  More ideas for using these taste combinations can be found simply by asking the Culinary Professional, chef, or deli assistant.  They are a few good men and women.

What’s hot? … Gourmet spiced cherry spread with ginger, figs with almond and garlic, chili pepper tapenade from The Gracious Gourmet, on-special artichoke-lemon-pesto and mango-orange spreads. Dean & Deluca specialty coffees, and Macy’s Kitchen hand-made candies…make delicious fall Thank-yous and You-Are-Special gifts for a necessary visit to a loved one.

In fact, the Thai Plum Sauce and Chicken Appetizer was the most recent recipe demonstrated with our products at the Ridgedale Macy’s 20% off sale just yesterday.  The current mixture  of changing vendors with 20-40% off gluten-free mixes, up-scale condiments and crackers, pastas, oil and vinegar salad dressings, and unique take-home or eat-in salads bring something special to a day shopping for you. Weekdays they have $1 specials!   The low-fat Fruigurt (frozen yogurt) is still around and makes quiet a memory, although the chocolate chips have replaced those carbon morsels.

In conclusion, if your appetite returns after jogging the lakes then you have good taste waiting for you at Macy’s Marketplace & Taste Bar. Gourmet food, not too rich, not too bland, Culinary Council Chef recipe ideas and the best pasta salads, gourmet accompaniments, and made-to-order sandwiches at the Women’s side (Taste Bar) are available seven days per week. We have calorie counts for some of our items and a few light salads.  Ten out of ten stars in my book, having been a cooking school instructor, caterer, and dietitian for 15 years.
