Rockford Road Library to Close for Upgrades September 9-October 20

Hennepin County Library – Rockford Road, 6401 42nd Ave. N., Crystal, will close for building upgrades Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at 5 p.m. The library is scheduled to re-open Monday, Oct. 21, 2013.

During the closure, Rockford Road Library patrons are encouraged to visit nearby Hennepin County libraries including Golden Valley Library, 830 Winnetka Ave. N., Golden Valley; Brookdale Library, 6125 Shingle Creek Pkwy., Brooklyn Center; North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry Ave. N., Minneapolis; and Plymouth Library, 15700 36th Ave. N., Plymouth.

Patrons who face a barrier to using a nearby library may contact the Library’s At Home Service at 612-543-8850.

Patron requests with Rockford Road Library as the pickup location will change to Golden Valley Library automatically. Patrons may choose an alternate pickup location through “My Account” at www.hclib.org. For help, patrons may contact staff at any Hennepin County Library location or online via the Library’s Ask Us service.

The pickup location for any requests not filled during the closure will change back to Rockford Road Library automatically when the library re-opens.

The book drop at Rockford Road Library will be closed. Books may be returned to any other Hennepin County library.

Work on Rockford Road Library will include mechanical and electrical upgrades and improved spaces for adults, teens and children, including a new interactive early literacy space. New carpet, furniture and shelving will be installed, and more casual seating and lounge areas will be created. The library’s service and information desks will be combined into a single desk for patron service.
