Motivational Living with Diabetes and Chronic Disease
We all have a friend, family member or know someone who is living with diabetes or another chronic condition. Nearly 17 million Americans have diabetes, and almost the same amount stand on the verge of developing the disease. Cathy Feste was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age and, like many others, had to learn the importance of living an active lifestyle for physical, emotional and spiritual balance. From her life lessons, Cathy developed a motivational program that is helpful for anyone living with diabetes or a chronic medical condition. Her message is one of goal setting, problem solving, copying, mobilizing support and maintaining hope.
Cathy’s publications include The Physician Within, 365 Daily Meditations for People with Diabetes, The Power to be Well and Tips & Takes from 50 Years with Diabetes.
"The Physician Within clearly explains in a richly anecdotal and warm fashion the power innate in all of us to deal effectively with illness." -F. John Service, M.D., Ph.D., Mayo Clinic.
As well as publishing several books, Cathy has spoken at many global conferences. She was the 1990 Mow Fellow at the International Diabetes Institute in Melbourne, Australia and a speaker at the World Health Organization's program: Patient Education 2000 in Geneva, Switzerland in 1994. Her presentation at The Marsh is a precursor to one she will give at the International Diabetes Foundation world congress next month in Australia.
Presentation and discussion will be at The Marsh, November 20, 6:30pm. This event is free and open to the public. Advance sign-up requested for space considerations. Advance registration appreciated, call 952-935-2202.
