MINNESOTA’S "EARTH TRAIN" LAUNCHES LARGEST RALLY ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN U.S. HISTORY

WHO:  72 Minnesotans of all ages going to Washington to urge President Obama to make solving climate change his legacy. Friday, February 15, Seventy-two Minnesotans will board Amtrak’s first ever EARTH TRAIN to Washington, D.C. to join “Forward on Climate,” the largest rally against global warming in American history.  


The EARTH TRAIN’s departure officially kicks off the rally on the National Mall set for noon Feb. 17. A musical flash mob-style send-off will take place inside the Midway Amtrak station beginning at 7:00 a.m. prior to departure. Please arrive quietly, prepared to record and listen to one song, ending in a dozen one sentence statements by adults and children: “I am riding the Earth Train because….”   


 Passengers include storyteller Kevin Kling, National Book Award-winning author Louise Erdrich, musicians Prudence Johnson and Simone Perrin, Kate Jacobson of Mn350.org, Margaret Levin of the Sierra Club, State Representative Frank Hornstein and many others, including children of various ages. Individual interviews will be possible after the event. 


The national rally is the brainchild of Bill McKibben, founder of350.org, author most recently of “Global Warming's Terrifying New Math:”
