Live Results: Hopkins Voters Choose Candidates With School District Experience

Betsy Scheurer Anderson, Michael Doobie Kurus and Warren Goodroad won seats on the School Board.

UPDATED: 10:04 p.m. Nov. 5

Residents around the Hopkins school district worried about a School Board takeover from candidates who wanted to let a portion of Edina leave the districts, but candidates opposed to the idea won handily.

Two of the winning candidates, Betsy Scheurer Anderson and Warren Goodroad, were incumbents. The third, Michael Doobie Kurus, is a former member of the Hopkins Legislative Action Coalition and several other district committees, as well as an active member of the Early Childhood Parent Advisory Council and the Eisenhower PTO.

Scheurer Anderson came in first with 23.4 percent, followed by Kurus with 20.81 percent and Goodroad at 20 percent.

Katie Fulkerson, at fourth, came closest to challenging the establishment candidates. She fell 660 votes and 3.54 percentage points shy of winning a seat. While Fulkerson did not support Edina detachment, she was critical of district spending during the campaign season.
