Patch Poll: Christmas Cards?

Are cards by snail mail a great tradition or a waste of time?

I recall Christmas cards. Don't they belong in the era of the VCR and cassette tape?

In the past, the best– perhaps only– way to send out mass holiday greetings was to buy boxes of cards, spend a Saturday signing and addressing them and self-licking the envelopes, before a visit to the post office for a book of cheery stamps.

Now, if you want, you can snap a pic of your kids in Santa hats, post it to your Facebook wall and write "Happy Holidays." Done!

If you want to make your well wishes a little more personal, there are a variety of websites that offer free e-cards. Pick out the one you like, sign your name and attach your e-mail list. Voila!

So, will you send holiday greetings to your loved ones through the USPS or is it an unnecessary tradition?
