Patch Asks: Casey Anthony Verdict?

Patch invites all residents to stop by for a chat about topics that matter to the nation.

Editor’s Note: We want to know what you think Minnetonka! So starting today, Patch will ask Minnetonka residents their insight on a hot topic.

We want to know what you think of one of the most controversial jury findings of the last decade—the jury decision in the Casey Anthony trial.

The Florida mother was found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, after 33 days of testimony. And today, media reports claim that Anthony's defense attorney is worried about her safety once she gets out of jail.

What are your thoughts Minnetonka?

If she were being tried for being a selfish, self-centered, terrible mother that should rot in HE-double hockey sticks... the prosecution proved its case. Since she was being tried for first-degree murder... they came up short. Jury got this one right.

The DA botched this case! Hindsight's 20/20, but they should have tried for 2nd degree or even cover-up of an accidental death. Jury followed the law. DA didnt prove 1st degree murder. DA did prove Casey is a bad mother and lied to the police. That doesnt warrant death penalty. Sad but true.

I also want to say that no one should be threatening to harm Casey or the jurors. The jurors did their jobs. Hopefully their anonymity remains protected. If you want to go after Casey, try her in a civil wrongful death case (ie, OJSimpson) and she'll lose.

Ms Anthony didn't report her daughter missing for weeks, got a tattoo, her car reeked of a decomposed body..it is shocking. But, I heard these things in the media, rather than listening to evidence in a courtroom. That's the job of the jury. They've spoken and it's time to move on.
