Announcing Drug-less ADHD Relief by local Minnetonka Chiropractor Trained by World-Renowned ADHD Expert Dr. Edward Hallowell

Chiropractic Concepts now offers a holistic approach to help people manage the challenges associated with ADHD. Chiropractic Concepts is a Certified “SHINE for Doctors: Special Help for Integrating Neurological Experience” practice that combines ADHD Expertise, Chiropractic alignment, Neurological assessment with Exercise and Nutrition counseling.

ADHD is typically characterized by impulsivity, inattentiveness, and hyperactivity – characteristics that make it hard for those with this trait to reach their highest potential. Dr. Hallowell considers ADHD to be a trait, not a disability. When managed effectively, those with ADHD have accomplished extraordinary successes, but if undiagnosed or untreated, ADHD can wreck lives.

Dr. Hallowell says that having ADHD is like having a Ferrari engine for a brain, but with bicycle brakes. In keeping with this analogy, Dr. Megan A. Ellwanger, of Chiropractic Concepts (www.chiroconceptsmn.com) says, “We teach children and adults with ADHD how to strengthen their “brakes” while also giving their bodies and “engines” a tune-up. Medication is not the only answer.”

Recent studies indicate that the use of medication to help manage ADHD is on the rise, however, many people with ADHD prefer a holistic, alternative approach and are already familiar with Dr. Hallowell and his NY Times best selling book, Delivered from Distraction.  Chiropractic Concepts will combine Dr. Hallowell’s strengths-based approach by first identifying the unique gifts inherent in everyone, and then tailoring their proven chiropractic techniques to help the person with ADHD achieve their full potential. I'm disturbed that Patch would promote an event by yet another anti-vaccine chiropractor who claims pertussis is spread by the vaccine itself, which is preposterous and anti-science. This chiropractor posted on her company's Facebook page a link from famed anti-vax crank Mercola and commented that "Immunity Comes from Within...NOT from a shot in any form or fashion." As someone who works in public health, I can assure you that this is not the case--and I have met the parents of children who have suffered from vaccine-preventable diseases passed on to them by unvaccinated children. As someone who cares about the health of my children, and the children of others in my community, I am distressed that insurance companies work with people like this chiropractor, who actively advocates against people vaccinating their children. I'll be writing a note to Dr. Hallowell as well to express my disappointment. But I'm equally disappointed in Patch for running what is essentially a press release.

I think this is great for children with ADHD and a great alternative for them! As a member of Dr. Ellwanger's practice, I know first hand that she never pushes a decision or opinion on anyone, but she does offer a caring perspective of education and health responsibility. She often refers to and works closely with medical doctors and other health professionals. I'm sorry you feel this way, but she has helped many people including myself. Informing the public of her certificiation is meant to help those who struggle everyday with ADHD. I have been on different medications, and Dr. Ellwanger has never made me feel less, or inferior for taking them. She simply works with people to eventually try to get off of them if possible and if they desire. I think it is always beneficial to have options in healthcare, and to be able to chose a way of treatment that is best for each person and their beliefs, and it is great that Dr. Ellwanger now provides another source of therapy for ADHD. I'm thankful for her determination and hard work. and most importantly how much she has cared for me!
