Vikings win vs Redskins; Peterson, Ponder Injured

The (2-12) Vikings defeated the (5-9) Washington Redskins 33-26, but suffered major injuries to Christian Ponder and Adrian Peterson.

The Minnesota Vikings beat the Washington Redskins by score of 33-26. FULL HIGHLIGHTS HERE

Early in the game, the Vikings got out with a lead, leading 10-0 in the 2nd quarter. The Redskins tied the score by halftime, making it a 10-10 tie to begin the 3rd quarter. This is when things got interesting. Christian Ponder suffered a concussion and Adrian Peterson tore his ACL and MCL in the 3rd quarter. So Joe Webb came in as QB and played spectacularly. Webb gave the Vikings a spark and propelled them to a 23-20 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Vikings were ahead 33-26 near the end of the 4th quarter. The Redskins attempted a comeback, but could not tie the game, giving the Vikings their 3rd win of the season.

Adrian Peterson tore his ACL and MCL and will be out until the start of next year, at least. His injury will require surgery and 6-8 months of rehab.

Christian Ponder got injured and suffered a concussion. He may or may not play next week.

Joe Webb filled in as QB and looked great. Having seen these 2 QB's since the beginning of the season, I now have formed an opinion. Joe Webb is better because he has the ability to run and throw. He also looks very poised and confident. The bottom line: When Joe Webb is in at QB, good things happen! So, I think the Vikings should trade Ponder to get a WR or something during the offseason. In the Draft, the Vikings should draft an Offensive Lineman to provide protection up front for our QB. I believe Joe Webb is the future of the Vikings.
