Vikings Lose to Playoff-Bound Saints

The Vikings lost 42-20 to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, dropping the Vikings record to 2-12. FULL HIGHLIGHTS HERE

The Vikings looked good at the beginning of the game. They stopped the Saints from scoring, held them to 3 and outs, and forced turnovers. The score was 21-13 Saints at halftime. Even though the Vikings were losing, it was still a 1 possession game and they were still in it. But you can only hold Drew Brees and the Saints for so long before they start pulling ahead. The 2nd half was all Saints and they pulled away, winning 42-20. 

Christian Ponder looked average once again, but it's not his fault. The Vikings offensive line is bad and can't protect Ponder, giving him no time to throw and causing interceptions and bad passes. The only reason Joe Webb looks better then Ponder is because of his ability to run. Christian Ponder is a better passer than Joe Webb. 

The Vikings defense looked okay to bad. The D-Line is good with Jared Allen, but they can't seem to get pressure from anyone else. Also, the Saints had 2 guys blocking Jared Allen, making it much harder for the Vikings to get pressure on Drew Brees. Also, the Vikings defensive secondary needs serious attention. They can't cover receivers and we can't stop the long pass plays. Also, the Vikings secondary lacks depth, so we end up with Linebackers covering Receivers.

The Saints looked absolutely unstoppable. I'm predicting Saints vs Patriots for the Superbowl.

We need to get an Offensive Lineman, Corner/Safety, and better Receivers from the draft next year. On the bright side, if we lose the next 2 games and the Colts can win 1 or 2, we'll get a great draft pick next year!
