Places to Swim in Minnetonka: Libbs Lake Beach

This is the first part of a series of articles about places to swim in Minnetonka.

Editor's Note: We're doing a preview of the best swimming holes in Minnetonka, marking the first week of summer vacation.

Libbs Lake Beach Park is a small neighborhood beach just south of Gray's Bay in Minnetonka. If you go, you won't see anything close to the 85-acre recreation destination known as Shady Oak Beach, but what you will find is a fishing pier, picnic tables with public grills, public bathrooms and a small beach perfect for sunbathing and playing.

"Libbs is really geared as a neighborhood beach," said Jenny Garvey, program and aquatics manger for the city of Minnetonka. "The main reason is that it's very, very limited on parking.

According to Garvey, the beach only has eight parking spaces.

"If you're wanting to go there it truly is a biking or walking destination," Garvey said.
