Minnetonka-Based Archiver's Closing All Stores

More than a decade ago, Archiver's stores began popping up as moms everywhere (and some dads, too) began to dive head-first into the art of scrapbooking. 

Now, with technology such as Instagram and Facebook tracking our every move, the chain has determined it can't compete in the niche market, and Archiver's will be closing its stores nationwide, including the Twin Cities. Local stores are in Apple Valley, Eden Prairie, Maple Grove, Roseville and Woodbury.

The Minnetonka-based business filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in spring of 2013, according to Patch stories from last year. Leaders had hoped to "retool" its business plan in order to compete. 

But a statement today said the small company - it has just three-dozen employees at its main office, the release said - has decided to call it quits.

Stores will begin clearing out shelves immediately, offering "going out of business specials," the release states.
