Lucid Releases Surfside German Lager

The beer will only be available for the month of July and only around Lake Minnetonka.

Fans of Lucid Brewing have a new flavor to savor.

This is the second year that the Minnetonka brewery has crafted a Surfside beer for Mound and the Spirit of the Lakes Festival. But while the 2012 Surfside brew was a pale ale, this year’s version is a German lager—the first time Lucid has produced a lager in its 20-month history.

Surfside is named after Surfside park in Mound, which has an emotional connection for the brewery.

“As the only micro-brewery in Minnetonka, its fun for us to participate in community based events in our backyard,” a news release quoted owner and Spring Lake Park resident Eric Biermann. “As a resident, my family has enjoyed the Spirit of the Lakes festival.  Now as a local business owner, Lucid can add to the event.”

Surfside is gold-colored German-style lager brewed with German malts and hops. The small-batch beer is available in six packs and on draft for the month of July exclusively around Lake Minnetonka.

Lucid and Spirit of the Lakes used Mound artist Bruce Miller’s painting Sailing at Sunset for the bottle label.
