Ike's Food and Cocktails in Minnetonka Still on the Way?

The restaurant, which was formerly Prima, was expected to open in spring. I've been trying to find out when or if it will open, but no one wants to say. Here's a new clue.

I was excited, like many Minnetonka residents, for a new restaurant.

In January, when I noticed some , near Minnetonka High School and the intersection of County Road 101 and Highway 7, I stopped in to see what was up.

"New restaurant!" proclaimed the workers. Then I found out it would be a branch of Ike's Food & Cocktails, a popular downtown Minneapolis restaurant with locations at the airport.

While I was told the restaurant would be opening in spring and then it didn't, I tried to contact the owner Carl “Chip” Isaacson to no reply. I then handed off the story to two different freelancers because I no longer had the time. Each of them have tried to get answers from Chip, but for one reason or another, our questions have not been answered.

But I still would love to know! I live nearby, and I don't eat nearly as much seafood as I would like to.

So here's the good news. Ike’s Minnetonka, LLC, at 17805 State Highway 7, is requesting on-sale liquor licenses from the city.

Tonight at the Minnetonka City Council meeting (starts at 6:30 p.m.) , they plan to open the public hearing and continue it to Aug. 27.

At this location, Prima, an Italian restaurant, closed in February 2010. Before that, the space housed Big Buck Roadhouse.

On the menu, Ike's serves food such as steak, seafood, burgers and sandwiches.
