Hurricane Grill & Wings Makes Landfall in Minnetonka on March 4

The chain's second location in Minnesota will be in the former Old Chicago location at Highway 7 and County Road 101.

Hurricane Grill & Wings in Minnetonka will open their doors for business on Monday, March 4.

Then on Thursday, March 7, Hurricane will host a grand opening party with a steel drum band, Vikings cheerleaders and the Vikings mascot, with a few other surprises. Drink specials are from 6-9 p.m.

The first Hurricane in the state opened in October in Burnsville. The Minnetonka location will be the chain's 50th store.

This Hurricane Grill & Wings will be in the former Old Chicago location at Highway 7 and County Road 101 in Minnetonka. Old Chicago closed Sept. 4 after 16 years of business when the landlord decided not to renew the lease.

Hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and closing time is extended to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hurricane Grill offers an island-infused menu and beach-themed family atmosphere with 32 wing flavors. Outdoor seating is available.

The original Hurricane Grill & Wings opened in Florida in 1995. There are over 45 locations, including Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania, with additional restaurants planned nationwide.

And although some Patch readers have expressed sadness for the closing of Old Chicago, other residents are excited for something new. "I just love the Hurricane Grill & Wings in Burnsville and can't wait for the one in Minnetonka to open," commented one visitor on the Hurricane Grill & Wings Facebook page.
