Comcast Brings 450 Jobs to Minnetonka

Comcast is currently recruiting to staff its new call center.

There was great news on the job front Tuesday in Minnetonka: Comcast is adding 450 new full-time jobs over the next year.

Its new 98,000-square foot Comcast Customer Loyalty Center, at Comcast’s existing facility at 9705 Data Park Drive, hosted a grand-opening Tuesday for its new call center in Minnetonka. . The facility will eventually house more than 500 employees, including 450 new customer service agents and up to 75 management and support staff positions.

More than 100 representatives are already employed at the new service center, including more than 50 new employees who recently graduated from an intense training. Comcast is currently recruiting, hiring and training additional workers for the call center.

“It is a great day when a prestigious company like Comcast decides to locate 450 jobs right in your neighborhood,” said David Olson, president of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.  

A number of local, state and federal officials attended the event, including U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar; Minnesota State Senator Terri Bonoff, Edina Mayor Jim Hovland and Minnetonka Mayor Terry Schneider. Klobuchar praised the call center as continuing a long string of innovative in Minnesota business.

“In the words of Garrison Keillor, the women are strong, the men are good looking, and all call centers are above average,” Klobuchar said to a room full of laughter.

Matt Marek, a communications and community relations specialist for the Minnesota School of Business, said his employer was pleased with the news.

“It helps out the schools in the area with placement for graduates,” he said. “It’s good to see that many new jobs in the area, especially in this climate.”

Comcast currently has 1,900 employees throughout Minnesota. The company serves about 600,000 customers in the state through call centers in St. Paul and Minnetonka, five local installation and service fulfillment centers and eight local payment centers.
