Carlson Plans Luxury 'Carlson Island Apartments'

Residents would be able to live in the apartments and work at Carlson Center, creating 'a unique opportunity that many other municipalities are finding success in.'

If you work at Carlson Center, living in a luxury apartment complex nearby could soon save you a commute.

Trammell Crow Company and Carlson Real Estate Company have submitted a concept plan to the city of Minnetonka to develop a parcel within the Carlson Center (501 Carlson Parkway).

The site is located on the island north of 601 and 701 Carlson Pkwy. The development concept would include construction of a five story, 173 unit apartment building with underground parking.

"The purpose of this and vision for this project is to enhance the Carlson Center campus by bringing 24/7 life to Carlson Center and to meet the housing demand in the city of Minnetonka by providing a one-of-a-kind luxury residential community," according to Trammell Crow Company plans.

Carlson Center is located on the north side of the I-394 and I-494 intersection. The development also extends into the city of Plymouth to the north.

The Carlson Island Apartment plan replaces a previously approved plan for an office building on the island. Residents would be able to live in the apartments and work at Carlson Center, creating "a unique opportunity that many other municipalities are finding success in," according to Trammell Crow.
