The winter weather advisory remained in effect through Wednesday afternoon. Sleet, freezing rain and rain are expected to diminish and any new accumulation will be in the form of snow – between 2 and 4 inches around Minnetonka, according to the National Weather Service – Chanhassen.

Power outages were reported Wednesday morning in and around Minnetonka. Xcel Energy said crews are busy restoring 11,000 outages in the metro this morning. To report an outage, call Xcel at 1-800-895-1999. They expect most customers experiencing outages to have their service restored by noon today.

From 9 p.m. Tuesday night through 6 a.m. this morning, 84 vehicle crashes were reported in Minnesota with 71 in the metro area – with 19 of those involving injuries. They also reported 101 vehicles had gone off the road or spun out and four vehicles jacknifed, but no serious or fatal crashes have been reported, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Minnetonka and Hopkins schools were delayed two hours and morning Kindergarten was cancelled.

It was a mixed bag on Twitter this morning for Minnetonka students. Some were happy with the delay:"Somoas, hot chocolate, a blanket and a book. Thank you minnetonka for the 2 hr delay #perfect." Others hoped for more:"c'mon Minnetonka. where's the snow day? #letmesleep."
