Dan Geldert Marks 50th Year of Conducting with Sept. 23 Concert

Many of the nearly 60 current members of the Minnetonka Concert Band are former students of Geldert.

Dan Geldert, conductor of the Music Association of Minnetonka’s (MAM) Concert Band, will mark his 50th year of conducting at the auditorium at a Minnetonka Concert Band performance at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23 at the .

A reception honoring his achievement will follow the performance. The concert is free, but donations to MAM are accepted.
 
Geldert, who worked as a music teacher at Minnetonka High School for 35 years, started the Minnetonka Concert Band ten years ago. For much of his time as conductor, he has lived out of state, most recently in Colorado. His love of conducting and dedication to the Minnetonka Concert Band motivates him to travel back to the Twin Cities 12 times per year to conduct rehearsals and two concerts of the Minnetonka Concert Band.
