Minnetonka Woman’s Nieces Caught in Nairobi Attack

The 17-year-old and 16-year-old were both injured.

For most Minnetonka residents, the attack on the Westgate Mall in Nairobi is just a headline, albeit a horrific one. But for Hodan Hassan, the attack has personal resonance.

Hassan’s nieces, whose family lives near the malls, were hurt in the attack, Fox 9 reported. The girls—17-year-old Fardosa Abdi and 16-year-old Dheeman—were shopping for groceries when gunmen opened fire. Fardosa Abdi was “badly injured” in an explosion. Dheeman was shot in the leg and hit in the arm by shrapnel.
