Minnetonka Family Finds Golden Raspberry

The medallion was underneath the statue in the Clock Tower Plaza.

The team comprised David and Lisa Schmid; their 10-year-old daughter; David’s mother, Geri and his sister Jeanene. The group has made a tradition of searching for the medallion over the past three or four years.

David Schmid said that experience helped them better understand the location to which the clue referred. The family divided up and hit about six spots on the way to finding the medallion—arriving at the correct location just before two other searchers.

For finding the Golden Raspberry, the Schmids receive $250 in gift certificates to local Hopkins businesses and a $250 cash prize. David Schmid said the family hasn’t decided how to divide the reward. But for them, it really wasn’t about the reward as much as it was about the search.

“We have a really good time with it,” said David Schmid. “It’s just fun racing around searching through the bushes.”
