Great Escape: Ice Skating at The Depot

Looking for a little fun this weekend? Try ice skating at The Depot in downtown Minneapolis.

Don’t think spring is here just yet. The Depot Ice Rink in Downtown Minneapolis is still open until March 20. Its romantic, yet family-friendly setting is perfect for bringing the kids along for a fun afternoon or taking that special someone out for a night on the town.

The Depot is a historic landmark located right off of Washington Avenue, overlooking the city skyline and the St. Anthony Stone Arch Bridge. Open skating is available from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. The cost is just $8 per person and $7 for skate rental. There is also an underground parking garage nearby.

If you take the kids, The Depot features a snack bar serving a variety of food and beverage items to keep them satisfied—you can even get a glass of wine for yourself.

But if you decide to get a sitter, you and your significant other can take a break from skating atCharley's Grill or the Stone Arch Bar, both located within The Depot complex. Another option is Spill the Wine Restaurant, down the street from The Depot at 1100 Washington Ave. S. The restaurant has more than 100 wines to choose from and an array of small plates to share with your skating partner.
