Five Things to Know: Elections, Brush Drop-off, 9/11 and More

Five things you need to know about Minnetonka today.

1) The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is tonight until 6 a.m. Saturday morning. Stop by Minnetonka High School if you want to support the cause or take part in the events.

2) Peggy Kaplan of Minnetonka was a member of the winning team at the two-day Summer Nationals Mixed Board-a-Match (bridge). Look for a Patch story on her this month.

3) The brush drop-off program for Minnetonka residents is open Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Mondays and Tuesdays from noon to 8 p.m. Brush drop-off will end Nov. 19. When the leaves start falling, you can start raking.

4) No primary is required in Minnetonka this fall due to the number of candidates who filed for the four ward council positions. Two filed for Ward 1, one filed for Ward 2, one filed for Ward 3 and two filed for Ward 4. All the candidates will go directly on the Nov. 8 general election ballot. The city of Minnetonka can help you absentee vote.
