Help Seniors Remain Independent: Volunteer From Home

Volunteer Order Taker training sessions scheduled

Store To Door is a nonprofit grocery shopping and delivery service to seniors 60+ years old living in the 7-county metro area. Because of snow and ice dangers in the winter, Store To Door (S2D) adds approx. 200 clients in the winter months. To meet the this increase in services, 50 new order takers are needed. This virtual volunteer opportunity makes it easy to work from home, at work over lunch, or in your favorite snow bird location.

Upcoming 2016 Training sessions are offered

Volunteer Order takers volunteer about one hour per week from home, calling two clients one week and two the next week. Order Takers use their own phone, and computer/tablet to connect to S2D’s online ordering system. This grocery ordering system has a comprehensive list of Cub grocery items. Orders are entered into the system while the senior shares their grocery order over the phone. Store To door partners with 600 volunteers who place orders and shop grocery orders. As Carolyn Swenson, Store To Door Volunteer Program Supervisor, points out “It’s only because of the generous support of our volunteers we are able to deliver and shop groceries for 1700 seniors last year, culminating in 21,000 deliveries”.
