Local Playwright, Daniel M. Frank to Debut Drama, Redbird Road Second play by Twin Cities Native, Confronting Complexities of Mental Illness and Life Threatening Decisions

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn – August 22, 2013 – Daniel M. Frank, Twin Cities native and local playwright, will debut his original production, Redbird Road, at the Sabes JCC Theatre (4330 S. Cedar Lake Road, Minneapolis) beginning on October 3 through October 12, 2013.  Redbird Road, another provocative drama by Frank, tells the story of two brothers, who grew up in a middle-class family, and how one’s struggle with paranoid schizophrenia and cancer affected both of their lives.

Inspired by true events, Redbird Road takes the audience inside the world of a warm, talented, intelligent mentally ill man, faced with the most important decision of his life. Yearning to find his own clarity amongst inner voices and loved ones, he struggles to balance his own independence with the wishes of those who are also invested in his well-being.

“While Redbird Road brings to light powerful feelings and ethical dilemmas within the context of mental illness, it is really a story about life, itself,” said Daniel Frank. “It is about how we deal with life’s greatest challenges while we’re here, and about the legacies we leave after we’re gone.”
