Community Corner

Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and the Minnehaha Watershed

Two girls from Troop 16295 thought they could take their fall Girl Scout leaf clean up activity a little further so that they could complete their Innovate badge and Take Action Project  for their Journey : Get Moving.

They invited not only the rest of their Girl Scout troop but they also invited Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in the Hopkins/Minnetonka Community.    We worked with them to understand how to create a flyer and had them pick an image to include in the flyer. Zuri was able to present the project in front of Cub Scout Pack 254.

On the day of the leaf clean up, they cleaned up leaves along with their Girl Scout Troop and others from the community.

They also lead and inspired the participants to sign a water quality pledge to save water.

Finally these girls decided they wanted to learn how to put together an awareness video to create a global reach with their message.

These girls learned the process of story boarding, concepts, creating voice overs, rehearsal, editing and basic animation to be able to put their first video together.

Check out this video to learn how you can make a simple change to make a difference.
