AP Puts Minnetonka at Second in State Football Rankings

The Skippers head to Edina on Friday.

Minnetonka’s 5-0 start, culminating in last week’s 35-0 trouncing of Hopkins, has attracted no shortage of attention. Associated Press rankings put the Skippers at second among Class AAAAAA teams.

The full rankings are:

  1. Eden Prairie (7) 4-0;
  2. Minnetonka 5-0;
  3. East Ridge 4-0;
  4. Lakeville North 4-0;
  5. Maple Grove 4-0;
  6. Wayzata 3-1;
  7. Rosemount 3-1;
  8. Osseo 3-1;
  9. (tie) Totino-Grace 3-1 and Farmington 4-0.

Minnetonka will try to keep its streak alive at 7 p.m. Friday when the Skippers head to unranked Edina. The team has a tough schedule from then on—with games against Eden Prairie on Oct. 4 and Wayzata on Oct. 16.
