Valentines day is right around the corner, romance is in the air, and no one does romance like the ballet! One of the most romantic ballets, Swan Lake’s story of romance is one of enchantment, sorcery, duplicity, and love against all odds.
SWAN LAKE
Metropolitan Ballet is proud to present this time honored treasure! Be transported into the magical world of Swan Lake as the story of the enchanted Princess Odette, who has fallen under the spell of an evil sorcerer and transformed into a swan, unfolds on stage.
Forced to live at a lake formed by her grieving mother’s tears, she is spotted one day by Prince Siegfried as he ventures upon the lake while out hunting. Seeing Odette transform from her swan form into her human form, he falls in love with her and she with him.
But all hope seems to vanish when the Prince is tricked into declaring his love for the daughter of the evil sorcerer; condemning Odette to remain under the sorcerer’s power.
One of the greatest ballets of all time, Metropolitan Ballet invites you to join us in experiencing the magic of Swan Lake at Hopkins Auditorium February Saturday16th at 7:30 pm and Sunday 17th at 3:00 pm.
