The Skipperettes, Minnetonka High School's Competition Dance team, will host a winter Youth Dance Clinic for kids ages 4 -14 Friday, March 1st, 2013, a non-school day. 

From noon – 3:00 p.m. kids will learn new dance moves and a short dance routine at Minnetonka High School. Dancers will perform at halftime at an MHS Boys JV Basketball game that night.  Tickets for the performance can be purchased at the door.  The clinic fee is $50.    

No prior dance experience is required to attend - participants will be grouped by age and ability.  Dancers will receive a rhinestoned dance t-shirt to perform in and will have fun learning dance technique and playing games with the Minnetonka Skipperettes. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. at the high school's west entrance on Friday, March 1st

Minnetonka High School is the only public high school in the Minnetonka school district. Every day, more than 2,800 students matriculate through a rigorous academic program that includes 21 Advanced Placement (AP) classes in subjects like calculus, macroeconomics, literature, composition, psychology, history, government, fine arts, statistics, chemistry, physics and biology. In addition to the AP program, Minnetonka High School offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. 

Home to the Skippers, Minnetonka High School is one of the few high schools in the west metro area offering a traditional high school math sequence, which includes geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus and statistics.

MHS is equipped with state-of-the-art technology in the media center, physics labs, technology education labs and architectural design classrooms. Thanks to a voter-approved referenda, $5 million will be spent every year on technology and classroom equipment through the year 2017. 

MHS has been recognized as a school district of excellence by the United States Department of Education. In addition to excellence in academics, teachers and faculty at Minnetonka High School stress excellence in activities, arts and athletics.
