Minnetonka's Most Decked Out Holiday House
Minnetonka residents Gene and Linda Stageberg talk about their collection and famous light display.
For over twenty years, Minnetonka residents Gene and Linda Stageberg have combined their mutual love for Christmas and created an amazing display of yuletide cheer. With over 50,ooo lights, 150 Department 56 houses, six Christmas trees, 20 Santas, and countless other decorations, their display could be a Guinness Book of Records contender- at least, for the Minnetonka area.
Throughout the month of November, well before Thanksgiving, Gene and Linda pull their 40 boxes of decorations out of the dedicated storage area and begin the month-long process of decorating the inside and outside of their Minnetonka home. At the end of it all, the inside of the home resembles a Christmas museum, with each room dedicated to a theme and collection. The outside is a holiday beacon for all of the neighborhood which requires a dedicated electrical line to power.
"I don't know what we are going to do when we retire and get a smaller house," Linda Stageberg said. "I guess we are going to have to do some downsizing."
