Two Hopkins High School Nordic skiers have earned a spot on the 2012 Midwest Junior National Ski Team.

Juniors Sarah Benton and Harris Dirnberger will compete in the Junior National event March 4 through March 10 at Soldier Hollow Cross Country Ski Resort in Utah.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Marriott Junior National—Cross County Championships is a competition between the strongest and fastest Nordic skiers in the country between the ages of 16 and 20.

The Midwest team has 21 men and 21 women from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois who qualified through a series of ski races. Both Benton and Dirnberger have raced for the Midwest squad in the past.
