Should Booze Be Sold on Sundays in MN?
With the NFL season in full swing, we're wondering how Minnesotans feel about the fact that liquor isn't available seven days a week.
The big game is starting in a few hours and you're having a bunch of friends over, so you head to Costco for a bottle of tequila and a 24-pack of Stella.
Oops. Not if it's a Sunday and you're in Minnesota. If you didn't plan ahead, you're stuck making the trip to Wisconsin or organizing an alcohol-related potluck. Or, horror of horrors, getting through the game without "adult beverages."
The nonpartisan House Public Information Services Office conducted its 2012 opinion poll during this year's State Fair, and one of the questions concerned whether Minnesota liquor stores should be allowed to stay open on Sundays.
More than 9,000 people participated, and quite a majority (63 percent) answered 'yes.'
We're wondering what our readers think. Should Sunday remain liquor-free, at least for retailers? Or is this a vestige of Prohibition, long overdue for change? Please vote in our poll, and explain your opinion in the comments below.

Yes.... Legal age adults should be able to make the personal choice to buy beer or liquor on Sundays. I don't see any reason why the state should impose this silly "no booze on Sunday" law. It makes me laugh to be honest.
Maybe, the state could allow off sale every third Sunday, and be closed ther rest. Maybe, only have stores open on odd days.
Wait, I got it..... Every third Sunday, and on all odd days, and the first Friday of each month.
Sometimes Goverment just seems silly.
Have a beer and relax.

Sunday is just another day to turn on the lights, pay the staff, and various other costs of doing business. It will show up in consumer costs. The Auto Dealers don't want to be open for the same reasons, because what you sell on Sunday does not (long term) increase sales. Also, Sunday is a nice day to give the employees off to enjoy the fruits of their labor...not being called in to cover sickness, etc.
If you can't plan ahead, or cannot keep yourself from drinking it all up on Saturday, you have a problem the government can't fix. The need to have everything available 7 days a week is a first world problem, and we are the poorer for it.

Why not? The government should not be dictating when legal commerce can occur. PERIOD. Autos, liquor. Whatever. Sounds a lot more responsible to stay home and enjoy the game with a six pack than do it at the local pub.
