September Events at Minnetonka Libraries

Free programs for young readers, clubs and other activities for teens, computer classes, writing labs, author programs, job search assistance, multicultural events, arts and craft workshops, genealogy research tips, and lifelong learning for all will be presented free in September at Hennepin County libraries.
 
Hennepin County operates 41 libraries in the city of Minneapolis and suburban Hennepin County.

Family Storytime
Thursdays, Oct. 4-Nov. 15 (except Oct. 25), 10:30 a.m. at Minnetonka Library
For children age 2 and up. Share books, stories, rhymes, music, and movement with your children.

Used Book Sale
Saturday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Minnetonka Library
The Friends of the Library will hold a sale of hundreds of adult and children's fiction and nonfiction books in hardcover and paperback. Most books, withdrawn from the Hennepin County Library system or donated by the public, will be priced $1 or less. Funds raised will benefit the library.

Master Gardener: Putting Your Yard and Garden to Bed
Saturday, Sept. 22, 10:30 a.m. at Minnetonka Library
Registration required; begins Aug. 25; limit 12. It's late fall and time to prepare your yard and garden for winter. Learn proper techniques of composting, pruning, protecting shrubs, winterizing roses and covering perennials. We'll also discuss landscape plants, which are admired for their beauty in winter.

Meet with a business counselor to develop your business plan, discuss a new idea or tackle a business problem. Consultations are free and confidential. Walk-ins welcome.

Ready for Work
Thursdays, Sept. 6-Oct. 11, 4-5 p.m. at Ridgedale Library
  or call 952-847-8847.
Take part in theater and dance games, visual arts, music and poetry designed to develop social and communication skills for work place readiness. Open to adults of all abilities, including those with disabilities. Attendees needing one-on-one support will need to bring their support person along.

Socrates Café
Thursdays, Sept. 6-Nov. 29 (except Nov. 22), 7 p.m. at Ridgedale Library
Sit back and philosophize with your friends and neighbors. The topic is decided by popular vote at the beginning of the meeting. All welcomed; no experience necessary. The concept of Socrates Café is based on the book of the same name by Christopher Phillips.
