When November rolls around, folks in Minnesota and Wisconsin know that snow is coming soon.
But it's still a bit of a surprise when it starts to fall for the first time each year.
Snow started falling in the Twin Cities area before noon Saturday, and anywhere from 2 to 4 inches was expected to accumulate, according to the National Weather Service.
Please add your snow photos to our collection.

The National Weather Service still says Northfield should only get 1/2 inch, but I'm pretty sure we've exceeded that by now.

The first snow brings the first sleepless night. The noise from snow plowing at Fridley Medical Center is unbearable and all hours of the night. There is virtually no buffer zone between the homes on 5th street and this megaplex. I beg the citizens of Fridley to oust the council members before they ruin your home too. I'm posting this at 2:30 am because I have a Bobcat tractor outside my bedroom window and can't sleep. God I hate the Fridley Medical Center and the Fridley city council for allowing them to build on residertial property. What a Joke! Someone got paid under the table.

BN, Go run for council and make it happen your way. Government is corrupt whoever is in. Payola? Most likely.. Save your whining for the govmt goons that put you in this position. I could bring you over some tissue paper and ear plugs if that would help for now.

I love how all the weather forecasters said this first snow would just melt. Totally wrong. Not that I mind! It's like a post card outside my window! :-)

It probably will just melt. It's supposed to be 50 degrees by Thursday.

That's what I meant. I was driving on ice and snow today in Golden Valley and everyone had predicted there would be a messy slush and that it would melt within hours. I realize it will probably melt in the next couple days, Michael. Something tells me you're a smart alec:)
