Veterans' Day is Nov. 11. Students at Minnetonka schools will honor veterans with the following programs:
An all-school assembly will celebrate and honors those who have served our country. All veterans are encouraged to attend the celebration and arrive at 12:30 p.m. to allow for some time to visit classrooms. Veterans are encouraged to RSVP to Lisa Dutton.
The assembly will start at 1:15pm on Friday, Nov. 9.
Excelsior Elementary fourth graders will honor our veterans and those serving our country during a ceremony on Nov. 9 beginning at 9:15 a.m. in the auditorium. Flanked by a color guard of uniformed Girl and Boy Scouts, the patriotically dressed students will take to the stage and fill an hour with songs and presentations in an uplifting and respectful program, based on the official ceremony for Veterans Day.
The program includes a number of patriotic numbers, including “Allegiance Rap,” “This Land is Your Land,” and “Declaration.” Students will present a variety of poems and writings that share their thoughts on freedom, country, and patriotism.
This is the 14th year fourth graders at Excelsior have presented a Veterans Day performance. It is led by Anita Otten and Andrea Johnson, Excelsior’s music teachers. You can view a highlight video of last year’s ceremony here.
A flag-raising ceremony will take place at Veterans Field on Nov. 12 at 7:45 a.m. Community members, students and staff are all welcome to participate in this ceremony.
