Minnetonka Senior Rock: #4 Minnetonka Patch Story of 2012

We're counting down the most popular, inspiring, interesting and tragic stories of the year.

In August, an uproar on the web blamed students from Edina for graffiti spray painted on the "senior rock" outside of Minnetonka High School.

The article Edina Students Blamed for Minnetonka Memorial Vandalism was the No. 4 top story on Minnetonka Patch in 2012.

The high school's senior rock had been decorated in honor of deceased MHS graduate Kennedy Maddox. The formerly blue rock was painted green and white, with "Edina Hornets" written on it.

The senior rock was repainted back to Skipper colors with the words "Tonka," "Seniors" and initials "KM" for Kennedy Maddox.

Edina High School Principal Bruce Locklear said he was "very disappointed in the individuals responsible for this inappropriate behavior."
