Girl Struck and Killed While Crossing Highway in Chanhassen
Aimiee Trudeau was attempting to cross Hwy. 101 with her bike when she was hit by a car just south of Minnetonka.
A 12-year-old girl was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon while crossing Hwy. 101 in Chanhassen. She died six hours later as a result of her injuries.
Aimee Trudeau attended Oak Point Elementary School in Eden Prairie, and crisis counselors were at the school Thursday, according to reports.
Trudeau was struck by a southbound vehicle while attempting to cross the highway with her bicycle. First responders from throughout the surrounding area responded to the scene.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has ruled the death an accident, although the Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the incident. The driver of the vehicle has not yet been identified.
Trudeau was struck at the intersection of Hwy. 101 and Lotus View Drive, about three miles southeast of Excelsior and just south of the Minnetonka border. A roadside memorial has been constructed at the site by friends, family and community members.

*Chanhassen? I really enjoy Patch but obvious misspellings like this are disappointing.. Especially when reporting about a young child who died in our area.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Trudeau family, and to the drivers involved in the accident. We do not know them, but have daughters similar ages to Aimiee. This tragedy has shaken all of us up. Please know that we are thinking of you all during this difficult time and pray for peace in your hearts.

Yes this is tragic...wondering if the girl crossed that busy street at the light? or ventured out through it... unfortunately, the poor man driving the car will remember this the rest of his life! too sad, I hope she was crossing the street where she was supposed to.

someone told her not to cross the street but Aimee thought she said TO cross the street and she crossed and didnt see the car and got struck. I was in the car behind the car that hit her. and i was good friends with aimee.
