The incident has shutdown roads near the interstate, but hasn't closed down 394 itself.
Police scanners indicated the standoff started around 6:30 p.m. and authorities moved quickly to shut down the neighborhoods surrounding the area, as New Hope Police, Minnetonka Police and Plymouth Reserve Officers have been brought in.
Police have also requested the Edina Bearcat from the Southwest Co-op of Departments, based in Edina. A Minnesota State Patrol Officer was also assisting.
