Coach Hired to Lead Minnetonka Girls' Basketball Team

Leah Dasovich, a MHS English teacher, is the new head coach.

Minnetonka High School English teacher Leah Dasovich is the new head coach of the Minnetonka High School Girls' basketball team.

Dasovich brings well-rounded experience in coaching and administration. She has eight years of experience in coaching; seven as an assistant coach at Minnetonka High School (2001-2007) and as North Tartan’s 16U head coach in 2009. She has also been a key contributor in the Minnetonka girls fourth through eighth travel program for the past three years, responsible for running tryouts, hiring evaluators and forming teams. 

Dasovich’s playing experience occurred at St. Cloud State University (1996-2001) where she was voted captain her junior and senior years.  In 2001, she participated in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

After earning her degree in 2001, Dasovich began teaching English at Minnetonka High School. She continues to be an active staff member inside and outside of the classroom. She has helped lead programs like "First Mates" and the Ignite Retreat, which help freshman students make an easy transition to high school and connects them with senior students.

“Coach Dasovich brings a wealth of knowledge from her experiences as a player, coach and coordinator with the Minnetonka Girls Basketball Association," said Minnetonka High School Activities Director Ted Schultz.

"Minnetonka has been my home for the past 10 years, and I truly believe it’s the best academic institution and best community to live in," said Dasovich. "I also believe it has the potential to be one of the best basketball programs in the state of Minnesota. I am thrilled to lead this program forward with passion, drive and hard work.”
