Adjusting Precincts Is The Next Step In Redistricting
The Minnetonka City Council will introduce new city ward and precinct lines on March 5.
Because the ward boundaries are contained within Minnetonka’s city code of ordinances, the redistricting of those boundaries must be done by ordinance. The ordinance will be introduced at the March 5 city council meeting.
Minnetonka's City Council will host a public hearing of the proposed ordinance at its March 26 meeting. At that meeting, the council will vote on the proposed ward and precinct boundary adjustments. By law, the city is required to have its redistricting complete by April 3.
A Minnesota Supreme Court panel drew new political boundaries for the state's eight congressional districts and 201 legislative districts. The maps were released earlier this week. The plan places Minnetonka in House Districts 44B to the north, 48A to the south and a small portion of 49B to the northeast.
Minnetonka had previously been in House Districts 43B, 42A and 33B.
